Eau d'Hadrien

Eau d'Hadrien is too dangerous for me too wear.
I know there are those who think this smells like lemon pledge, but those who love this will understand what I mean.
Every time I wear this, memories of southern Italy come flooding into my mind.
The scent has power over people, I'm not kidding.
The owner of a shop I went into started following me around the aisles pretending to be checking on stuff. I started to get a bit annoyed, but kept to my business. I get to the checkout and he's there again. He suddenly says: "are you looking for a husband?" I thought I'm hearing things. "Pardon me?" I said. He repeats "Are you looking for a husband?. I could not believe it. I started laughing thinking he must be kidding. Then he got kind of embarrassed and said "sorry, I though you may be looking for a husband". Then I got the hell out of there ASAP.
I know for sure it was the perfume. That day I had drenched myself in it, I could not stop smelling it, I was spritzing it constantly. People I encountered that day kept commenting on how beautiful I smelled.
So there. I got proposed to in a strange way by a stranger due to it's powers.
I have been afraid to wear it out in public ever since.

According to the Annick Goutal website, famous followers of this scent include:
Tom Cruise, Prince, Madonna, Celine Dion, Nikki Taylor,Oprah Winfrey, Prince Charles, Catherine Deneuve,Tina Turner, Sharon Stone, Steven Spielberg,Leonardo Di Caprio, Queen Noor of Jordania

The official description is:
"A sparkling composition. Eau d'Hadrien is a fresh, citrus fragrance in which a zesty touch of lemons from Sicily and grapefruits ripened under the Italian sun blend with the subtle notes of citron and cypress. An elegantly reserved Eau de Toilette with a wide appeal for those who love timeless scents." (source: annickgoutal.nl)

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15.

Best Tinted Moisturizer in Allure magazine's "Best of Beauty" (October 2005 issue, p258) and InStyle magazine's "156 best beauty buys" (April 2005 issue, p399).
Gives you a healthy glow, yet it seems matt enough. No ugly shine effect but get the shade right for your skin-tone.
I'm a huge fan of the Nivea Tinted moisturizer, have been ever since it came out (it's cheap and gives the best coverage by far). However, this would come in second place (the price is a tad high for a tinted cream, although it is a very good product.)
So many magazines feature this as the best in its category, my only problem with this line would be the color choices. The lightest is too light and the next is a bit too dark. No wonder they advise to mix 2 shades to find your perfect macth. (Very clever, this way they sell you 2 x tubes at $40 each to get your face right...)
I give it 9 out of 10 because of the shades.
My cheap Nivea Tinted M. I'll rate 10/10 - Post to follow real soon. That's my absolute favorite - and my wallet's as well :)

Prada Lip Balm

Superb lip balm. The first one I ever tried was the clear which was fantastic on its own. Great staying power, and subtle shine.
Then I was tempted to try the tinted ones.
I got the 'no2. nude rose', it appeared very natural, great if you don't like too much color on your lips.
I also tried 'no.7 pale pink' which is more of a summery, sexy glossy shade.
The last one was 'no4. berry', more of a red tone '"Lolita-ish, looks like you dipped your lips in raspberry syrup" shade.
I've yet to try the other 4 shades, but I'm pretty sure they're just as fab as these.

The complete color choices are:
Tint 01, dewy pale beige.
Tint 02, velvety nude rose.
Tint 03, lustrous soft peach.
Tint 04, buffed clear berry.
Tint 05, creamy chocolate.
Tint 06, soft red.
Tint 07, pale pink.

They are made in mono dose sizes, individually sealed packages that keep out light, air, and bacteria. The sealed packs are hygienic and guarantee freshness. Each mono dose is 0.05 ounce.
Rich with shea butter, Vitamin E, panthenol, UVA and UVB filter.
Plumps and enhances the natural tone of lips.

Creme De La Mer

Expensive? Yes.
Does it work? Yes. But, ONLY if applied correctly. As I've mentioned before on the Rose Day Cream post, application is the key to the success.
People who do not have success with this cream, most likely apply it the wrong way. It is very tempting to smear it all over the face thinking the more the better. WRONG!
There is a reason it comes with instructions. Warming up the cream between the palms/fingers is necessary to break down the thick cream into a serum-like texture. Otherwise one is just wasting it and probably creating very congested skin while doing so.
Always, without exception use no more than a pea size amount. This will not only stop you from wasting the product but will give the necessary amount for the face. For this reason it comes with it's own spatula, plus reduces contamination from fingers in the pot.
Don't forget to warm it up, it is very important, rub the palms together until they have a serum-like sheen covering them. This is what needs to be patted onto the skin. Keep patting all over the face until it transfers from the palms to the face.
No rubbing, rolling or massaging it. Must be patted. Also, best if face is damp from toner or plain water after washing, because the cream will seal the moisture into the skin.
The scent is pleasant, nothing fancy - some people complain that is smells cheap and Nivea-like - Must be one special Nivea they are smelling, because it smells nothing like it. I guess people expect the smell to be some super extravagant fragrance because of the cream's price. To me personally, the scent is very comforting and lovely. Not at all overpowering or nauseating like some other upmarket creams... I won't name names, but there are plenty of revolting ones out there.
So, its either a love it or hate it product.
I've only ever had great results with Creme De La Mer. I give it 10 out of 10.

Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream

Deep cleaning, gentle enough to use daily and PH friendly.
Must use with the "pressing" technique, not scrubbing like you would the bathroom floor. Gentle pressing and gentle kneading is the way to do it.
Don't expect it to remove make-up, it's not designed for that. This is ideal to use after make-up is removed, and for morning cleansing.
Afterward, splash cold water onto the face, it's good for the circulation.
Very organic smelling, yet pleasant. (Although some may not like the scent, try to smell a tester prior to purchase, just in case).
The metal tubes are a bit annoying, they need to be constantly flattened and can leak when twisted/bent frequently. They sell special wringers for these tubes but that's just over the top annoying... and costly.

Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream

First, the creme de la creme of the range:

ROSE DAY CREAM

Very gentle, soothing creme. It is thicker than most creams, and needs to be 'warmed' up before application, same like Creme de la Mer.
This should be done by warming it between fingers or palms. I find it easier to do by rubbing a pea size amount between the palms, then patting all over the face (not rubbing it in like other lotions!). So try not to roll or "knead" the skin while applying creams to the face.
The scent is very much that of roses, so if you don't like the smell of roses in skincare try someting else.
It does wonders for the skin, provided it is applied properly.
Important: apply while the skin is still moist from toner. Not dripping, but just damp enough, this is so the cream forms a barrier over it and keeps moisture within the skin. One should never apply any moisturizer over bone dry skin. It should always be damp, if not from toner then from plain water after washing the face. Try it and you'll see. Sometimes the miracles do not come from the products but from the application of the products.
